Pulling Focus Ltd for the Tabard Theatre presents
by Gilbert and Sullivan
OUT CRITICS CHOICE - 4 STARS
'This magnetically charming cast breathes new life into
a dusty operetta'
'The company realise the full potential of its
and are quite simply a joy to watch.' Timeout
The Tabard Theatre,
in association with Royal 10 Productions is
delighted to announce Ruddigore, a
supernatural comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan.
The Wicked Baronets
of Ruddigore are cursed, forced to do one bad deed a
day or die in horrifying agony. So it comes as a
huge relief when Sir Despard, the current ‘bad
baronet’ finds that bashful Robin Oakapple is his
long-lost elder brother and the true inheritor of
the curse. Feebly committing crimes and losing his
sweetheart, the righteous Rose Maybud, poor Robin
believes things cannot get any worse. But what will
his ghostly ancestors make of the mockery that he
has brought upon the family dis-honour of Ruddigore?
reminds audiences that G&S is still riotous
'a full cast of men and women inventively doubling
as the chorus, and each member of the company plays
an instrument to supplement the pit.' The Stage
Royal 10 Productions comprises of graduates from the
Royal Academy of Music who not only sing and dance
but are also the band. Directed by Alex Young, the
most recent ‘Sondheim Competition’ Winner, She sets
this rarely performed work in a bright, bold,
beautiful and bizarre world where the Good, the
Evil, the Mad, the Sane, the Dead and the Living all
collide, creating a colourful firework of follie! .
Ruddigore is produced in house at the Tabard Theatre
whose previous musicals include Just So and the
Part social satire, part horror story Ruddigore’s
greatness lies as much in its ability to move and
scare us as in its potential to make us laugh. With
some of Gilbert and Sullivan's best tunes and a
traditionally silly plot Ruddigore remains one of
the most popular of the G&S operas.
'The Tabard has given us a
fun evening and great fun it is too'
'The production is a lavish affair, its nine
hardworking cast, expert in music, movement,
song and dance, ensure a good time is had by all.'
